Altering the size of text in Outlook Express
« on: Monday 12 May 08 12:25 BST (UK) »

Whenever I try to change the size of the text before composing a message in Outlook Express it always returns to Size 12 which I find too large.  I'd be grateful if someone could help.

If you want to change the default size and or font for sending mail from Outlook Express try this:-

In the Main OE window go to Tools, Options, Compose Tab.

Choose a font and size that you want to default for your outgoing mail, then click Apply and OK.

Thank you both for responding so quickly but I'm sorry to say that neither method works.  When I went to Compose, the Mail box was showing 8pt Times New Roman.  I clicked Font Settings and changed it to 10 then clicked OK (immediately to the right), then Apply.  On returning to the New Message page it was showing 10 but, as before, it changed to 12 as soon as I started to type.  Many thanks for trying to help.

That's odd  Huh I just tried it and it worked.

I'm using Windows XP, are you?

Yes, I'm also using Windows XP.  Not to worry; I'll keep pegging away.  Grin Grin

If you have set up the stationery options the font size etc will default to this regardless of what changes you make under "Compose" .

It may be worthwhile checking that option and making sure it's cleared.

Many thanks Falkyrn.  Yes, the Stationery boxes are clear.  I don't know what's happened but at least the text size on O.E. is now reasonable even if I can't change it.
