Would there be anyone out there who has successfully traced their Jamaican ancestry. I have only got back to my Grandparents so far and am finding it all very trying to say the least. The Jamaicans seem to be so laid back to put it mildly. I have tried contacting the Registrar General's Dept without much success - they just told me that I had to have a relative in Jamaica (which I haven't) to go and do a search for me. Surely there must be another way.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Bob. I've actually been in touch with the Gleaner and they sent me a list of everyone with the surname I am researching island-wide. I've actually sent a couple of letters out to different ones, but no response as yet.
