Hi
Can anyone check on the 1901 census for a Walter Burton born Stockport c1887 please.
Found his marriage 1905 but no father's name given

In the 1891 census he is a boarder, not with parents.

Or do you mean you have the marriage cert but there is no father's name?
I think in that case he's probably illegitimate.
Perhaps the birth cert with his mother's name may help.

Well done Tati,
you have just beat me with the info you have given, I agree with your findings, especially as the Walter in 1901 has had his surname scrubbed out from Burton to Penney. I have found
William Burtons death it was Dec 1886 in Stockport 8a 85,
it looks like she married Robert Penney (it has his name as Robert Penney Clayton on freebmd)
in June 1900 in Stockport 8a 141.

Sorry the death of william was Sept 1891 in Stockport 8a 42, not 1886

Not sure where the marriage to Robert is but I have it in 1900, John Henry (not W), was born
John Henry Clayton in Dec 1891 in Stockport 8a 43, will have a search for Robert now.
Where did you find Mary Ellens marriage, one of us is wrong (bound to be me, I am a bit of a malteser, brown hair on the
outside but most certainly blonde on the inside!!)

Still can't find robert, but in the 1891 Census, Mary Ellen Burtons martial status was married not widowed, the census
was in March and William died in Sept, so if we find him perhaps we'll find Robert. I can't even find Roberts birth in FreeBMD!!
I'll keep searching.
