Hi

I am looking for the baptism record for Anthony Brown born abt 1825 to a William Brown, cabinet maker, mother Margaret Unknown b abt 1791 Co. Durham.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Anthony was baptised 12 April 1826 to William and Margaret Brown at Bishopwearmouth

Anthony Brown was my gg grand father. It's great to sort that generation out -I was missing two siblings and the mother's surname.

Now for the next generation - two Browns should be easy!!!!

I'm not sure that that is what janis meant, the baptism record will not show the mothers maiden name, although on the joiner marriage index there are 2 william browns marrying a margaret in durham between 1807 and 1813 or 1 between 1811 and 1813, it is a pay per view site.

Thanks for the clarification and guidance.

Joiner (I'd done this before) has two possibilities

William Brown - Margaret Lidell 21 Oct 1810 Bishopwearmouth
William Brown - Margaret Kay 14 Dec 1811 Darlington

Durham Records on line has no suitable records, neither has the George Bell list or the LDS Pilot site.

IGI - shows four of the children
2 are born to William Brown and Margaret Brown
2 are born to William Brown and Margaret

IGI shows one child born to William Brown and Margaret Lidell - Jane 1812 Sunderland (not Bishopwearmouth).

I reckon the most likely conclusion is that Margaret Lidell is the mother to them all. My only worry is why did the child Jane not appear in the parish register along with the other siblings especially as the parents got married there.
