I have a Samuel Bennett Gro Death ref for Sep quarter 1840.

BENNETT Samuel Stoke Damerel 9 246

I think this might be my GGGG grandfather's death record. But I was wondering if any burial records exist for that time and if so could someone check, so I can confirm it is him before I order the death cert. The burial should be in Devonport. As his wife and children were living at Duke Street, in Devonport in 1841 census.

As Samuel was deceased before any census' I need to try and obtain his age in order to try and trace his birth/baptism record, as I know very little about him or his wife, other than their names appearing on the childrens baptisms.

I believe he married Charity Johns on 21 Jul 1821 in Stoke Dameral.

Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I am aware a burial entry is just that an entry unlike births and marriages after 1837 where it is is a copy of the certificate, so I am not sure how much you would learn Undecided

You would have to search the parish records for Devonport

I am pretty sure the burial records give age at death and sometimes the occupation as I have the burial record of another ancestor who died in 1828.

If I can get the age at death of Samuel Bennett then it will give me an idea of when he was born. Also if ther is a burial record match for a Samuel Bennett in Devonport in 1840, then I will know that the death ref I have found, is almost definately him.
