Here is another photo that I picked up for $2 at an antique (junk) shop.
On the back is written: Daisy Padgett - 1900
I know that in certain circles in the early 1900s, women dressed as men....a la George Sand......but I'm not sure if this is a woman.....or did the photo belong to Daisy Padgett and I'm barking up the wrong tree?

I thnk it's just a pretty man - ears just don't look right for a woman, or jaw line. But then I could be wrong Paulene

Georges Sands was one of a kind (!) and a bit earlier. I agree that this looks more like a pretty guy than a woman - but chaps used to have daft nicknames during 19th/early 20th cent. Using a girl's name for a pretty man wouldn't have been that unusual. Needn't have had any implications for his sexuality, either.

He has very smooth skin though. Unless the photo's been touched up
Ahhhh - just noticed the give away - I think it is a she - no forehead overhang above the nose. Women's noses are more flush with their foreheads than mens

I tend to think it is a woman also - I think the eyes are female....I don't know why!
Either way it is a VERY good looking person.
I guess I should try and find Daisy Padgett on a census somewhere......hmmmm...probably the USA and if this is Daisy she looks about ....hmmm 18?.....

I think it's a bloke, and a reall cute one at that He would make a great Vicar!!!!
Jaw is very wide at the back for a lass. Names mean very little, my little brother is Dale, I called him Daisy all our childhood, still do sometimes, if I want to annoy him!! . On the other hand my sister Pauline is always called Paul as a short version. So if I spoke about my little brother and sister, it was Paul & Daisy, I wonder if I ever confused anyone

Pretty 16 or 17 year-old boy. Can anyone make out what's on the lapel pin?

Hi Indi
There are a few possible Daisy Padgett on the 1900 born circa 1880 (e.g. Indiana and Alabama ). Do you have any clues as to where it was taken?

I think it is a fellow, you do see the occasional good looking one around
he reminds of an actor, can't for the life of me think of the name.

My thoughts!
Mask the picture so you lose the hair and ear. It's a woman - no brow ridge, no stubble, no adams apple, full lips and no nasal hair.

That's two of us plus Indi, Rog
also - hair isn't cut as a man's would be cut in those days!
and, a little wrinkle across the top button that is suggestive of a female shape
