Midleton College was founded in 1696 by Elizabeth Villiers, a favourite of King William II (Good King Billy). www.midletoncollege.ie/index.cfm/page/history

The Dillon Bass site says that the Murphy Bros founded the Midleton Distillery in 1825. I'm not sure when it was founded as the Whiskey Guide site  says the seventeenth century and the Classic Whiskey site says 1796  http://tinyurl.com/672nq8
