Hi I wonder if anyone can help me I've struggled for a long time in trying to trace 3 relations of mine who I cant locate in the 1901 census - there names are Joseph Mills (b Q1 1866), Mary Mills (c1870) and Walter Mills (b Q1 1877) all from in or around Manchester. There are other brothers and sisters who I'm fine with for 1901 onwards but these 3 I'm really struggling for what happened to them after 1891. 1893 in the case of Mary as she was still Mary Mills as she was a witness at one of her other brothers weddings. I thought I finally had some joy with Mary marrying a Thomas Carr in 1897 but she was aged 42 on the certificate Equally there is a Q1 death in 1893 that matches age perfect for Joseph but on checking the record for Southern Cemetery nothing much for the address, job etc added up, could still be possibly be him but only death cert I guess confirms 100% not looking positive its him only age match Anyone with any ideas where they could have gone? Is it bad transcribing? I've checked quite a lot of outlets/ideas over the last 6/12 months with no joy. Guess its time for the Padowan to bow down to any Jedi's who might be able to magic something please

Searching....

There's a possible match for Joseph in London, although his occupation doesn't match:
RG13/96/17/26 75½ Cobourg Row, Westminster St Margaret Stephen H Bond - Head - 41 - Superintendant of School & Refuge - Gunstone, Dorset [...] Joseph MILLS - Inmate - 35 - Tailor - Manchester
Not overwhelmingly convincing....

Hi Manchester Rambler Thanks for this note - this was something I had noticed also in searches but like yourself the occupation is different although being in prison its a bid difficult to be an engine stoker! lol! Anyone have any other suggestions or ideas?
