Another kind of "tin" type

I thot this might be of interest to you photo-fanatics.  Sorry about low res; am trying to teach my sister how to use digi-cam and scanner from 1500 miles distance.

This is the lid of a tin-box from circa 1910.  I was a bit surprised they had the technology to do this at the time.  Of course, it might have been done later with old pictures.

It is my grandmother (Lilly), and her half-sister (Violet).  Cute concept, eh?

Wow, that is really cool!  Never seen such a thing with personal photos before, although the usual advertising etc. was common...I suppose it dates from around 1910 or so, so the method could be a relief duotone or colour halftone.   Photos reproduced as halftones were used in newspapers and books from the 1880s onwards, but the colour processes were a few years later.
