Fresh eyes please

Hi all,

I am trying to find a marriage for a George Tarnham/Tarnam b1825 Ellesborough, Bucks and any other variants to a Caroline Bradley b1837 St Annes Soho, Westminster.


Their first child was born in 1861 Pimlico.

I have searched and searched for their marriage, perhaps i have missed them.

Any help in finding their marriage will be greatfully received

Have found them in 1871 - which is not what you were asking and you may have it anyway!

I was ment to say i do have all the census returns on George & Caroline, and also census returns for George & Caroline before they was married

Do you have them in 1861, when Emily was a baby?

I have found births for the other children, but cant find one for Emily.
I was wondering if Caroline married someone else before George, and had Emily, and then married George under a different name.

I cant find marriage either.

Now i come to think of it no, i couldn't find them on 1961 census, i have them from 1871 census also the 1871 census was mis-transcribed and a put a post it on ancestry.

You could be right about Emily, i couldn't find her birth index, but found all the other children

I will probably have to go through the marriage indexes for Caroline to see who she married before George.

Did you get Caroline's maiden name from a birth cert of one of the children?
Often they say Caroline Tarnham, prev xxxx, nee Bradley, or something like that.  But you cant be sure, if the registrar just asked "what was your maiden name" and she answered Bradley, then she was not telling any lie, but he should have asked for all previous names, I think.

I'll have another look for George in 1861, . I have looked but had no success with the family as a whole.

(PS saw them in 1881, what a lot of girls they had!!)

On the childrens birth cert it does say formerly Bradley.

I have just done a search for another marriage for Caroline and have come across 1 to a John Frederick Wing in 1858 so Caroline would of been 21.
Then i done 1861 census search and found them and living with them at the time was Caroline's step mother Elizabeth Bradley as her father must of remarried which i didn't realize.... back to the drawing board me thinks

Also found a birth index for Emily Wing b 1859

Unless it is me i still can't find Caroline's marriage to George, George died between 1881 & 1891 as Caroline is said to be a widow in 1891 & 1901 census
