Maynard

Greetings all, I have a John Maynard b. abt 1789 Kent (wife unknown) his daughter was b. 1822 at Tunbridge Wells. She came to New Zealand and married William Follas. There also seems to be a link to the area around Haddon Hall in Derbyshire. Perhaps there were cousins there that they visited. If anyone can shed some light on this mystery I would love to hear from you.

Hi Suz
Harriett Maynard
Traveled to New Zealand and married before 1835. Have not found the ship yet, still searching.
The Derbyshire link comes from a plate from Haddon Hall and as there are Maynard business' within 10 miles of Haddon Hall.
Just trying to find what the link to the area might be.
I have her family from her marriage here in New Zealand, just the background before she came over would be nice.

Aaaah yes, I realised that as I clicked on post. Her date of birth I mean she may have been born earlier than 1822, as I have her fathers date of birth as about 1789. The dates were sent to me so I will have to go back and check the details from them. Perhaps there was another Harriett Maynard born in Derbyshire !!!! The New Zealand link definately goes back to a lady of that name.
The plate is not in my possession so I do not have direct access to see the date. It is in the hands of a direct descendant of Dorothy Vernon who married John Manners of Haddon Hall.
So this was where my interest began.
We think it was passed down through the family via Harriett who was married to another branch of the family.
Ask as many questions as you like, I just want to solve the mystery.

Ooooh dear, some days I should stay in bed. Harriett born 1822 BUUUUUT married in 1841. Sooooo sorry. She married twice which added to my confusion, but a cup of coffee and further study helped a great deal. I had also entered the wrong name for another couple. I am now waiting for info on the plate to come through.
Cheers Mackiwi
