Guthrie family Fourdoun?
« on: Wednesday 14 May 08 20:42 BST (UK) »

My 4x Gt Grandparents:

All I have at the moment is a marriage of Margaret Guthrie b ? to Alexander Harp(b.1783).

They married 31 Dec 1813 in Fourdoun Kincardine.

Alexander Harp was a Lighthouse Keeper.

I am trying to find out place/year of birth of Margaret Guthrie & any other info available.

Regards

Margaret Guthrie was christened 11 Sep 1782 at Arbuthnott.  Her parents Robert Guthrie and Jean Christie were married 5 Jul 1769 Marykirk.  Both events are extracted entries from the IGI.
You may already know of this :-

1841 Census of Peterhead.
Light House
Alexander Harp    55  Light Keeper
Elizabeth    "       23
Jean          "       21
Helen         "      20
Isabella      "      15                   born England
Ann           "      14                   born England
William Davidson  35  Labourer

All were born outside the County i.e. Aberdeenshire except Isabella and Ann. Alexander's wife, Margaret Guthrie would have died sometime after 1827..
I now have the dates and places of birth for Elizabeth, 1 Oct 1814 Fordoun; Jean, 28 Feb 1816 Arbroath; Helen 1 Jan 1819 Arbroath.

Hello Isles,

Thank you so much for this,it is of great help to me.

Ann Harp was born on the Isle of Man c.1826 & was my 3x Gt Grandmother she died in 1886 Ormskirk

Isabella was also born in the Isle of Man.

At the time Alexander Harp their father was Light Keeper  on the Isle of Man probably at Point of Ayr.

This info was gained from the Isle of Man Forum

Kind regards
