Edward Turnbull - Did he go to Australia??
« on: Wednesday 14 May 08 20:43 BST (UK) »

I am looking for my GG Grandfather Edward Turnbull (for the full hunt here's the link http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,304456.0.html )

He was born in Coxhoe, Co Durham on 14th march 1845 , father Robert Turnbull, mother Margaret Balmer.  He married Annie Taylerson on 9th september 1872, they had 2 boys John and Robert then she marries John Greenwell in 1878.  Family stories are that they divorced, national archives have no record of that, we can't find a death or him on post 1871 census' so was he paid to disappear??  Did he emigrate?

I'm going to put this on all the country boards as he could have gone anywhere and I don't have the first idea where to look as no one in my family emigrated!

thank you  Smiley

Had a look at my Tasmanian info.....sorry no Edward Turnbull.

Would they have been divorced after so short a time??  I did think that you had to be separated for quite a number of years?.

The divorce we found was the wrong one so......was there a divorce?  Probably not.  He still disappears afterwards and no death in sight  Sad

Thanks for looking webby  Smiley
