Marriage / Divorce / Birth - where to look?

Hi all,

I have come accross members of my family (still living) and want to lookup a marriage that took place in Edinburgh.  Where would ii look to find this info?

You can view on line images of BMDS on Scotlands People up to:

1907 - births, 1932 - Marriages, 1957 - Deaths

In the last couple of months, Scotlands People have introduced searchable indexes for births and deaths up to 2006 (marriages are imminent). You can't view images past the dates above, but you can search and then order on line directly via Scotlands People.

In the meantime, if you need to order a post 1932 marriage extract, see this link: www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/bdm.html

Also, depending where you are based, you could visit New Register House in Edinburgh www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/index.html and look up the records yourself or Park Circus in Glasgow.

For divorces, you may find some details at the National Archives of Scotland site:
