The problem is the person who I am trying to send a message to lives in Australia. The red letters keep saying 'timed out'. The only messages I can send are to those living local. Carol

It shouldn't make any difference where they live, as the messages go via the Rootschat server anyway.
Can I suggest that you write your message in Notepad or Word and cut and paste it into the space on the Personal Message? Then we can get a better idea of what is causing the problem.

I just tried again.
This is what it said in red letters. Pm could not be sent to Koala 32 due to the max pm limit. So what is the max pm limit? Carol

Sounds as though Koala hasn't posted enough messages on the main boards - if 5 or fewer, they can't get PMs past a certain number.
You need to contact Trystan to alert him to this & he should be able to help. He's away for a day or so, so be patient!
Alternatively you could reply to a thread that Koala has posted on & they would see that you want to contact them - we can always delete it later, if you let us know.
Kind regards, Arranroots

Had a PM from a Rootschat member earlier, tried to reply but keep getting this msg when I post back.
PM could not be sent to 'XXX' due to the max. PM limit.
I have less than 15 msg in my box as like to keep things tidy...does this mean me or them being maxed?
Posted it here so that maybe the mods or someone with more know than me can hopefully explain
Cas

Hi Cas
This seems to be related to an earlier thread - I have merged them so that you can see the answers there & any developments.
Kind regards, Arranroots

Thanks for that Arranroots, seems to explain a little.
Had a msg from a member that has posted zero, but still a member, gave me a link to Irish records for my Thos Flynn. Just wanted to say thanks for the link. Seems rude I cannot, possibly coz they have not posted?
Hope they read this....thanks for your PM....appreciated you know who you are
