Hi
Are you in Australia? The passenger lists have been filmed and a available at a couple of pplaces but may not be of much help as they usually didn't give much more than on the index.
If you search on the link from Jenn and just put in the name of the ship and date it will give you the complete passenger list, there may be someone else onboard to help you

You need to search detailing the ship as John & Lucy not John and Lucy, otherwise you will get a nil result. The ship's name and passenger list is on the Assisted Passengers list. There were 99 passengers on board in 1858 but I can't see Anne CROWE's name.Perhaps the ship made more than one trip in 1858.
May I ask what is the Diggers Immigration to Victoria? I haven't come across that before.

Hi Terra, Thanks for the info re writing the dhips name - so easy to make errors when noting items, esp when using search engines. The 'Diggers' is a name given to several Victorian Family History search CDs that you can purchase of BDM's. I luckily was given them, but a lot of gene soc/liraries have them available to use The info I had was off the Immigration to Vic CD cheers Sue

I have all the Vic bdm disks but wasn't aware of one called Immigration to Victoria Lucky you receiving them as a gift - put a bit of a dent in the bank balance when I purchased the series.
Wonder why Anne CROWE's name didn't appear on the PROV Assisted Passengers on the John & Lucy in 1858?

Terra, Where are you situated? The info I have actually was printed out at the library in Bendigo Vic and the heading is Digger - Immigration 1852-79 I can't find it on my copy and as you say Anne Crowe is not listed on the internet site I'm sure she is 'my girl' and now want more info about her to verify some facts. Sue,
I will have a look at the manifest for the John & Lucy, later today when I go to my local library.
Terra, Anne Crowe's name is on the unassisted shipping index (PROV), John & Lucy.

Thank you Andy - starting to question my searching abilities. Looked at the complete passenger list and there were only 11 passengers with names commencing with "C" and no CROWE. Thank you for pointing out the problems.
Sorry Sue for misleading you.
Terra
Edit - Andy it also brings up passengers on the "John Owens" !!!

Hi Terra Looked at the complete passenger list and there were only 11 passengers with names commencing with "C" and no CROWE I'm puzzled, there are about 50 passengers beginning with the letter "C" including Anne Crowe. If you put in the month Dec and the year, 1858 it just brings up the John and Lucy passengers totalling 395 Andy Andy if you enter John & Lucy [without the space before the ship's name, as you advised to leave a space] and 1858 it only brings up 99 passengers. Try it. I am starting to think I am going bonkers If you leave a space it brings up 497 Sloppy transcribing.

Hi
If you want to know if there is anymore information on the passenger list. You need to access the information at either the State Lib or PROV or somewhere they have the Microfiche.
I am going to the Lib tomorrow, I can check it for you. Note as it is unassisted immigration there won't be much information.
Regards
Genni

Hi Terra
I think I've worked it out, there are 99 Assisted British Immigration passengers when you don't leave a space and 497 if you leave a space before the ships name. One of those passengers is Anne Crow (without an E)age 21 but I've been looking at the Unassisted Inward Passengers that shows 395 passengers including an Anne Crowe (with an E on the surname)age 22 . It looks she was carrying both Assisted & Unassisted passengers and the Unassisted passengers have been included on both databases. What a mess.

Andy thank goodness you have worked it out. I was really starting to think I was losing it I agree...what a mess. I have noticed on a couple of other occasions what seemed to be the same people listed on both Assisted and Unassisted Passenger lists.
I guess the only answer is to have someone like Gennig who is kind enough to do lookups for people.
Cheers Terra
