Name changed by deed poll
« on: Thursday 15 May 08 08:35 BST (UK) »

I am trying to research my son's G grandfather. He went by the name of Rene Wright. He was born in Dijon, France and his mother came to England when his father was killed. His mother took the name of the man she was living with and I believe Rene's name was changed by deed poll.

Are there any official records that I can look up to find his birth name? He was born in 1902.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't know where to look.

thank you

I have found details of name changes by deed poll for this period in the London Gazette, which covers the whole of England not just London.
