John CLARK/E 1841 Instow?
« on: Thursday 15 May 08 11:08 BST (UK) »

Could someone check the 1841 census for a John Clark/e married to Sarah.  From 1813 - 1822 he appears to be a Wheelwright (or Miller?) based on likely children below:

CLARK Eliza, bapt 11/07/1813, parents John & Sarah, occup Wheelwright, abode Instow Mill
CLARK Ann, bapt 23/04/1815, parents John & Sarah, occup Wheelwright, abode Mill
Clarke, Thomas 13/04/1817, Instow
CLARKE Jane, bapt 05/06/1819, parents John & Sarah, occup Wheelwright.
CLARKE Elizabeth, bapt 10/11/1822, parents John & Sarah, occup Miller, abode Mill

Their son Thomas is my direct and I know he was married in Barnstaple in 1835.  If found in 1841, are John and Sarah also in 1851?

Thank you.

Hi Ricky,

No, sorry, I don't.  Since people didn't seem to move around too much in those days, I assume it was Devonshire and near Instow, but that is just a guess.

I reckon there were tons of John Clark/es in Devon.  My guess is that John and Sarah were married in Instow, but IGI doesn't appear to have Instow records.

Thanks,

Nick
