Have you tried looking for George st on the 1871 census, some of his staff my have lived above the shop. It wont tell you who they are just maybe's
Looking at the Crickmore clan then, they lived in Lloyd St

hiya nari. going off your info,this lad must be one of yours. neville crickmore. enlisted 8-9-1914 at manchester aged 20 duke of lancasters own yeomanry army No3645 born.st.margarets altrincham resided 116 george st,altrincham[parents edward+emma] religion,church of england occupation,apprentice saddler to his father,edward. transferred to the royal field artillery,15th reserve brigade.at hemel hemstead army No179960 promoted to saddler staff sergeant 1-4-18 demobilised.4-2-1920 sister bessie brother james,edward.

Hi Mack,
Thankyou for the information, yes Neville is mine but I didn't have any of those details so that is really great to find out, haven't looked to much into Edward and Emma's children yet but you have certainly given me a starting point. Also exciting to know that Neville was apprentice saddler to his father, I knew the shop had passed down the line from James to his son Edward but wasn't sure after that, was only guessing that it was Edwards son's who took over from there.
Thankyou again, I'm also guessing that the details are taken from Neville's war records.
