I have come to a complete dead end with researching one branch of my family who were from Lithuania. The first mention of them was on the 1891 England Census, they were living in Stockport. One child was born in Russia in 1885 and the second child in stockport in 1891 so they must have arrived in England between 1885 and 1891
I was wonder whether anyone has any advice about how best to find records of their arrival in Britain from Lithuania (Russian Federation). Also does anyone know about searching Russian/Lithuanian records? I assume they must have had passports.
Their names are: Stanislaus (born approx 1863) Annie (born approx 1861) Antonious (Anthony) (born 1885)
There are many variants of the Surname - generally the main one are SABALAUSKAS, SABLOFSKIE, SABALOSKY, SAVERLOSKY but lots and lots of other variants too! They were all tailors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I already have quite a bit of information on them once the arrived in Britain.
it may just duplicate Cyndi's lists, or it may even have some new ones.
Good luck, Bob
