Hello Claire. Here are the two inscriptions for Lanchester.
Sacred to the memory of Robert Croudace, of Langley, who departed this life on the 5/August/AD 1807 in the 50th year of his life ( followed by the longest eulogy I have ever seen on a gravestone) Near to this place lies the remains of George, who departed this life 30/January/1791 aged 5 years. Jane Tiplady, 9/May/1794( Stone damaged so no date or any other information about this lady)
Burial place of James Croudace, he was buried Oct/19/1741. Here lies the body of Elis Croudace who departed this life (once again time and the elements have done damage and nothing else to be readable)

Hi Adam
Would you be so kind and see if there are any inscriptions for Jackson please. George and Isabel were married in Tanfield and their children were christened there, but I cannot find George and Isabel on the 1841 census. Thank you.
Regards Evie

Hello Evie. There ar six gravestones for jackson but only one with the mention of George and Isabella. Unfortunately the George and Isabella stone is broken and there only piece with an inscription on it :-
Florence Maude, dearly beloved daughter of George and Isabella Jackson of lanchester. That is all. No dates or anything else.
Do you want the other Jacksons posting?
Adam

Hi Adam
Thank you so much for your trouble and help. I will check my Jacksons to see if there is any connection between anyone. At the moment I don't think there is but you never know.

Hi Adam,
I notice you have Postle and Richardson on your list for Lanchester inscriptions. Is there any chance you would have any further info?
Thanks

Adam,
Yes please, if you could. It may help shed some light on my Postle anomoly, and I have lots of Richardsons in and around Lanchester,(actually the Richardsons seem to have got everywhere across Cumberland and Durham!!) so would be good to see if it relates to any of them.
Thanks for your help
Nadine

Adam,
Great thanks very much for respondong so quickly. The Postles definitely look as though they are part of the same family, although I think they are not the direct link to my family - I think they are siblings (unless Jonathan had even more wives than I originally thought!!)- I need to work it out. As for the Richardson ones I'm not too sure, there are so many of them I'll need to do some trawling through my files.
Again, thank you so much for looking the entries up for me and responding so quickly - you're a star!

Hi Adam,
Please can you forward details of the name 'Smith' on the graveyard inscriptions. There is a possibility it might relate to my ancestors.
Thanks Tab11
