Hello Mary. I have already posted the  gravestone inscriptions for Waugh
on a previous posting.
As for the Robson inscriptions,  there are nine gravestones and I will work on those.

Hello Mary. Here are the inscriptions that may help you.
I do hope that they are helpful because they are an interesting lot :-

In affectionate remembrance of Elizabeth Ann, the beloved wife of William Robson of Burnhope, who departed this life September/4/1905 aged 47 years.

John Robson of Billin Side, died December the XXV11  MDCCXXV11 aged LX1X
Eleanor Robson, his wife died the 11 of April MDCCXL aged 80 years. (must have forgotten about the roman numerals or did not have space for them)
Thomas Robson of Barr gate, died June the  XXV111 aged LV111  MDCL11.
(The spelling for Billin side  and Barr Gate although correct as the inscription, I think should read Billingside and Bargate as in the Durhamplace names book.)

Thomas Robson of the Ford, died the 2nd day of March 1750 aged 46 years.
Sarah, his wife died December ye 28 1754 aged 63 ( the date look like they do not look correct but they are)

In memory of Margaret Pickering, daughter of Thomas Robson, Kings Burn, who departed this life September/20/1795 aged 27 years.
Also Joseph Robson, son of the above, died in the South Sea Fishery, November/6/1804 aged 26 years.
Also Edward Robson, brother of the above, died in his majesties Frigate, Scorpion, August/6th 1806 aged 30 years.
Also Thomas Robson, father to the above, died August/1/1807 aged 72 years.
Aforesaid Jane (after that unreadable)

This stone is erected by Thomas and Ann Robson of Harelaw, in affectionate remembrance if their son Benjamin Robson and the beloved husband of Ann Robson, who died 29/June/1889 aged 23 years.

In memory of John Robson of Huh?Green, who died May/11/1830 aged 79 years.
Also of Elizabeth his wife, who died November/28/1860 aged 95 years.

In loving memory of Margaret Robson, who died May/17/1923 aged 83 years.
Also Elizabeth, her daughter who died June ?? 194?
(lead letters have fallen out  and is now unreadable )

In loving memory of Sarah Ellen, beloved wife of George W Robson, who died 20/May/1938 aged 51 years.
Also the above George W Robson, who died 25/February/  aged  84 years.
( after my cut off date, request the year if you think it may help )

Hello Kathryn. Here the are:-

In affectionate remembrance of Mary Jane Bolam, the beloved wife of John Bolam of Ewe Hirst Head, who died August/8/1871 aged 38 years.
Margaret Hannah, his daughter, died September/9/1864 aged 6 months.
Also John Bolam, died February/14/1913 aged 77 years.
And Anna Bolam, died January/21/1925 aged 57 years.

In memory of Robert Bolam of Maiden Law, who died December/9/1866 aged 77 years.
Also Hannah, his wife, who died July/26/1869 aged 77 years.
Also Thomas, their son, who died September/29/1831 aged 6 years.
Also Anthony, their grandson, who died July22/1855 aged 7 months.

I have included the next one because it has the name Bolam and I do not know what name is the surname. Taylor or Bolam?

In loving memory of Robert Taylor, beloved husband of Elizabeth Bolam of Flint Hill, who died 23/Jan/1911 aged 59 years.
Also Barbara Ellen, their daughter, who died 27/July/1906 aged 20 years and interred at Dipton.
Also the above Elizabeth Bolam, who died 6/February/1927 aged 71 years.

Hello Adam

I don't suppose the Carr MI you list could in fact be John Curr (d 1777) or his wife? He was a coal viewer, of Bushblades, so should have been able to afford a stone.

Thanks,
Geoffrey Smiley

Thanks all the same. Perhaps there was a problem with the family been RC, but the burial is on NBI as in Lanchester churchyard.

Hello Geoffrey. I do not think there would be problems with the actual burial and they will have to have been buried in the church of England graveyard.
Come to think of it, I can only think of two graveyard attached to to Catholic churches.
One is Wolsingham and the other is Crook. I am sure some one will point out some others.
The earliest burials in those two churches will be 1848 and that is way past the date that you mention.
What you have to bear in mind is that there may never have been a stone or it has not survived the ravages of time. And of course there may be one and it has been pushed over on the" health and safety grounds"
Those stones will never be lifted because the are so heavy and of course the will never be read again.
