This is what Deb put up on the previous thread

Robert and Margaret (from census) had:

William 1841 = Elizabeth Saunderson in 1877 William accounted for in 1841/51/61/71/81/91  possible sighting in 1901 with John b c 1862.

Margaret 1843 = George Chapman in 1864 accounted for in 1851/71/81 do we have her in 1861?

Edward 1845 = Annie Taylorson in 1872 Edward accounted for in 1851/61 and '71 (under Lurnbull) ...then, whoooooshhhhh, he's gone

Hannah 1847= Robert Hughff in 1869

Robert 1849

John 1853

Catherine/Kate 1855 = John Briggs in 1878

so possible mothers ;
Hannah or Elizabeth as they married after 1862 when John was born ...

added ... OR maybe William was married prior to Elizabeth Saunderson ?? NOPE not him ...he was still unm in 1871 living with mum.

We were also wondering if there was any way of proving/making more certain  Wink that Robert Senior was the son of Thomas T and margaret Dury

I'm still wondering why we can't find Margaret in 1861.
Now it's is on the census, I know it's not the right part of Durham, but

Thomas Brown 79
Margeret Turnbull 19
Thomas Turnbull 84

Thomas Turnbull is the householder, a retired farmer, Thomas Brown is down as his brother?Huh? and Margaret is his grandaughter
RG9/3762/108/31

I know it's clutching at straws but.... Thomas Turnbull was a husbandman on Robert's marriage cert.

Just to add, definition of husbandman.
) Tenant farmer 2) Farmer dealing with animals (14th century From the Anglo-Saxon husbonda) - a shepherd

Hi

Back ...dropped kate at school , did grocery shopping, unpacked it all and it's only 9;22am ... Grin

Madpants wanted to be sure about Robert Turnbull snr's parentage.

In 1841 he is in Kelloe aged 26 (he's the enumerator so he seems to have been specific with his DOB)
In 1851 he is 36 and stated b Pancher ?

so he is pretty consistent with his DOB of 1815.

On IGI there is this Birth and christening
Robert TURNBULL
b - 16 feb 1815
c - 26 Mar 1815
Whickham
parents - William Turnbull and Ann Johnson

Whickham falls under Gateshead.

The birth of Robert Turnbull to parents William and MARGARET is 05 MAR 1816   Baptist Meeting House, Sunderland!

Where is Pancher? what reg district?
