Its a joy to find new family and friends

Hi,
Can anyone help me with the following:
My Great Grandfather Percy James Millan McCance is a mystery man, I know he is on the Australian Electoral role but I cannot access this at present. I was trying to find his occupation and date of birth

In 1919 they are living at 167 Moore St Moonee Ponds and Percy is a Traveller
1924 - 23 Shaftesbury St Essendon, Percy is an Insurance Inspector
1931 (as 1924)
1936 (same details as above for Percy but a couple of other names

If you put a post on the Emigrants to Australia board someone who has the Vic birth indexes should be able to find his birth details. That is if he was born in Australia or maybe he married in Vic.

I have the marriage for Robert and Mary on the AVRI - but it only gives one birthplace - someone with the Vic early CD should be able to give both birthplaces
Robert McCance married Mary Greenwood 1873 ref 4692 - one of them born Yorkshire
I will see if I can trace Mary to find her parents. I don't see a birth for Robert in Victoria. There is one in 1852 for a Mary Ann Greenwood

looking for a birth for Mary -
I don't see Mary, but lots of siblings - parents Given as David Greenwood and Annie, Nanny, Nancie and Nann Murgatroyde. They may have emigrated after Mary was born

I can't find the McCance family in England/Scotland - which may be my bad searching or it may be they came from Ireland. I am having better luck with the Greenwood family

There are many many births in Yorkshire for a Mary Greenwood - no indication on the index which may be the right Mary.

I asked a friend to check the birthplaces on the marriage
Robert's birthplace is shown as DOWN.
Mary's birthplace is shown as YORKSHIRE
So I would think the McCance family came from County Down in Ireland. The immigration records would probably confirm or correct this.
