Margaret Flanagan b Headford Galway abt 1861

Hi
I'm seeking info for a friend who is descendant of above Margaret Flanagan. I think she is the daughter if Patrick Flanagan and Margaret Dooley. She migrated to Australia where she married James Mackey (of Lismore, Waterford). Any info anyone can share will be great as would search tips for Galway

As I mentioned in your other post (Mackey) civil registration of births in Ireland began in 1864 so there will be no birth certificates for anyone born before that date. However, you can often find younger siblings. See www.familysearch.org and on 2nd search page do parent search- type in NOTHING but father's full name and either mother's full name or just her Christian name and check results (if any) under IGI listings.

Patrick Flanagan and Margaret Dooley:
1. Judy Flanagan born 21 Apr.1864 Headford dist., Co. Galway
2. Bridget Flanagan born 9 June 1870 Co. Galway

Hello Megan,

If your ancestors were a tenant family and you're unable to trace any records then it might be an idea to consider looking at Estate Records. Landlords sometimes made notes about the families of their tenants as well as about their own families.
