Hello All,
Trying to find Fairlowes, but no joy. I think it's in Rox. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bob

What is the context?

A Google for Fairlowes gets no hits; Fairlones gets some as does Fairloans.

The Roxburghshire Gazetteer at:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/ROX/gazetteer/F.html
lists two places called Fairloans - one in the parish of Castleton, and one in the parish of Oxnam.

Scotland - HALL, HARLEY, LOCHTY/LOCHTIE/LOUGHTY (very rare), MCLAUSE/MCLAWS/MCILHOSE/HOSE (quite rare and many very variable spellings - close to 100 to date), PHILP/PHILIP, VASSIE; Ireland - BOURKE/BURKE, DONOHUE (many spellings), DOOLEY, KINSELLA, MAXWELL, OSBORNE, RAFFERTY, STA(U)NTON, SULLIVAN; England - BAYES, BROWNELL, DALTON, FREEMAN, HACKING, PIERCY, SIDDLE, SWIFT, SULLIVAN, TINK(L)ER, TRIPPIT.  Any spellings and many other names!

Thanks, JAP
That's brilliant. Must be a spelling mistake in the version I saw!
Much appreciated,
Bob
