I am looking for a person who lives close to Kew where London Archives hold WW1 records; Ernest was born abt 1882; Unknown place of birth to date; He was a comedian by trade, with the possiblity of acting; Since I have been in touch with Vanda - Rootschatter; I think it is possible we have found Ernest's family and they appear to have come from Yorkshire; Ernest married age 21 to my great aunt Blanche Young - 1903 in Grantham; We have a copy of the marriage certificate which has given us proof of names and dates; His father was Joseph Stevens a comedian by trade; (family found by Vanda in - Otley- Joseph - is a comedian) Ernest was in WW1 - regimental number - 52613 Manchester Regt; We have copy of Ernest medal card; Cat - WO 372/19 1914-1920 We also have a copy of CWG certifcate which states he is buried in Aldershot Militery cemetery - he died 9 Mar 1919; we are looking for some proof of his place of birth and also his war record which may give this; two rumours from family are; Rumour 1) That his brother in law (my grandfather pictured side) a stretcher bearer, brought ernest off the battle field and he was then sent home; Rumour 2) Is that he was 3bn manchester regt which was a reservist regt. And they are supposed to have never left british shores; However if he was a reservist there is every chance he was sent to France;
This would be such a find even though it is a big ask.
I went to check it out yesterday and couldnt find it so I re-posted. Sorry if this has caused bother. I am ok on general things but this was a new page for me and there were so many postings I got lost.
