I am continuing my efforts to connect two Harry families who are listed at Western Boscundle at the 1841 Census.Previous attempts have been inconclusive. There is a connection to Hammer through marriage but does not explain where the Harry families link up. In brief the two families are: 1. Nicholas Harry bpt 9 Jan 1800 St Stephen in Brannel s/o William Harry and Isabel Trethewy, married 18 Nov 1822 St Mewan,Jane/Jenifer Hammer bpt 12 Aug 1804. They had children Maria,Sophia,William,Jane,Nicholas,John Hammer (my great grandfather) and Henry.
The other Harry group, still to be connected to mine, was also living at Western Boscundle in 1841. This family comprises: 2. Henry Harry bpt 17 Apr 1796 Gwinear s/o Charles Harry and Mary Nancarrow, married 1 Jul 1820 St Austell,Christian (Kitty) Blight. They had children John = Maria Hammer *,Henry, Mary, Charles , William H. ,Thomas ,Joseph , Elizabeth , Mary.
* Maria Hammer who married John Harry , was the daughter of a brother of Jane/Jenifer Hammer who married my Nicholas Harry. I conclude that there is a connection through marriage to Hammer, but cannot explain how the two Harry families connect.
This is a real challenge.I will greatly appreciate help and suggestions.

Hi Going backwards with the HARRy families, what leds you to think they may be related? Just wondering because if you explore some trees for each family they seem to come from different ares
1. William who married Isabel trees there link him back to St kew families 2. Charles who married Mary has connections Illogan/Camborne..
So wondering if there is a link it may be way back or again intermarriage Maybe like my PASCOES, so many of them they weren't always related
Just a thought Bye Althea

Hello Althea Thank you for your contribution. You may be correct with your suggestion. I once thought that Harry was a fairly uncommon name but as you are aware there are many spread throughout Cornwall. I think I have identified my group back to St Kew but late 1700s and early 1800s,they appear to have moved to St Stephen in Brannel,St Austell and St Mewan. My first in Australia came here C1864.
The "other" group starts with a Charles Harry who married 21 Mar 1780 Illogan,Mary Nancarrow who came from Illogan.Charles was a "sojourner".I do not know his occupation. Their family (10) were borne Camborne,Phillack and Gwinnear. By 1841,later generations started to appear on Census at Western Boscundle,Brays Place,Union Rd,Meniar Downs. Most of the men look to have been tin miners.
Coincidently "my" group, commencing 1841,were located Western Boscundle,Hornick,Bucklers,St Austell,Brays Place and Meniar Downs. I thought that this was pretty compelling evidence.
Other evidence that there might be a connection are: Both "Groups" are related by marriage to Hammers and the two Hammers are blood relatives (Maria Hammer is a daughter of a brother who married into my "group".
Many of the first names are similar although many are common names.
Most were tin miners (perhaps not unusual given the locations).
Any connection could be pre 1700s.
I have been concious of name variation possibilities.
I greatly appreciate any advice or assistance you might be able to give me.
