Hi Heather
My gr.gr. grandmother was Ellen Punnett born 1839 in Punnetts Town - her mother was Harriott Punnett no fathers name.
Have you any info on the Punnets from Heathfield and Punnetts Town?
Regards Sue

Hi Sue
I have gone back as far as the beginning of the 1700 when my Punnett family was in Folkestone but can not find a link to Punnets Town sadly.
Good luck with your searching, Heather

Hi Sue9, I gather we may be related, as my grandmother was Ethel Matilda Punnett. What is the best way to share information, as I have lots, which you may since have got from others, i don't know.
have you come across the short poem "The mad woman of Punnetts Town"? I don't know if rootschat etiquette permits me to post a poem here (it's polite) Please let me know what Punnett info you may need Cheers Peter

Hi - this poem sent to me by Betty Jane Punnett, attributed to L.A.G. Strong.
THE MAD WOMAN OF PUNNET’S TOWN
By L.A.G. Strong
A-swell within her billowed skirts Like a great ship with sails unfurled, The mad woman goes gallantly Upon the ridges of her world.
With eagle nose and wisps of grey She strides upon the westward hills, Swings her umbrella joyously And waves it to the waving mills.
Talking and chuckling as she goes, Indifferent both to sun and rain, With all that merry company: The singing children of her brain.
Remind you of any Punnetts?? Best wishes Peter
