I am trying to confirm the parents of my 4xgrt grandfather WILLIAM LEVETT b. 1795/6 Tunstall, Woodbridge.

Hi Vella, or should I say, hello cousin!

From the Tunstall Parish Register:

"Willm Levett, son of John & Sarah Levett (late King) his wife, born Oct 10th 1795 & baptised April 17th [1796]"

John Levett and Sarah King were married in Tunstall on 27 November 1792. They had several other children including a daughter, Mary Ann, who was born on 1 July 1804. Mary Ann ended up in London where she married Richard Glover Grant on 3 December 1829.

John Levett and Sarah King were my 4x great grandparents. Their granddaughter Lucy Ann Grant (1837-1910)  married John Blackman (1849-1916) in 1871. John and Lucy Blackman were my great-great grandparents.

I have a reasonable amount of info about the Levett's of Tunstall, but it's a little late in the evening so I'll leave that until tomorrow.

Hello and thankyou very much for the information. There were so many Levett families in Suffolk that I didn't think I would easily find William's parents though I do have a John and Sarah down as possibles!
My William married an Elizabeth King (b. 1791) in Bromeswell in 1822. After Elizabeth died in 1832 he married a Frances or Fanny Rose from Pettistree. William and Elizabeth's daughter Sarah was my grt grt grandmother.
Do you think this ties in with your family records? William was a master mariner  and the family lived in Woodbridge. I plan to visit the area next month to do some more researching.
I have not been able so far to find William's baptism in Pallots Index or IGI which is why I am being cautious about confirming his parents! My next step would be a visit to the records office in Ipswich.
