Thanks Anna and Jorose for the new information.
I saw the Dancing Master and wasn't sure but with your help I feel more confident.
I have to dash off for a few hours, will then digest and have a better look at your pointers.
Back later
Thanks again

Hello again
After following up Anna's lead on Curiousfox, I got a reply from the person who made the original post. She was surprised at some of the info you have all uncovered. She is decended from Rosina and knows of Julius's daughters.
Julia, Louisa, Clara, Emily, Ann, & Rosina (Notably no Minnie Helena or Jessie)
When she digs out her records she will let me know what other details she has.
My Ancestry sub has now expired so a bit hampered. Not sure which way to go now.
Will post any further info here when received.
Regards
Howard

Not much more to report at the moment, I,ve just reviewed the thread and wondered if Anna and Jorose could help me with the following.
Anna, regarding the 1841 census and the ages of Julius and parents, William & Sarah. I must have made a mistake and silly me didn't print copy of the census record. I can't recheck at the moment, due to expired Ancestry membership. I thought Julius was born in 1839 and Sarah around 1816, making her 14 at the time. Would you mind checking for me please.
Jorose, could you tell me if/how I can get hold of the full articles you quoted in your earlier post, or indeed if you've read them, is there much more worthwhile detail included. I've tried googling the publications but not found a way through to them.
Thanks.
Howard

See my reply above (#44) re the ages.
Julius was born in 1830 according to his baptism record. This is consistent with his recorded age of 11 in the 1841 census.
Sarah was 39 in the 1851 census - based on which she would have been about 29 in the 1841 census. She is in fact recorded as 25 in 1841, which is correct for a 29 yr old based on the rounding down used in the 1841 census (25 in 1841 means 25-29).
All of which makes her about 18 in 1830, when Julius was born - a young mother, but by no means exceptionally young at that time.

Thanks Anna, sorry for typo. Should have said Julius born 1830
I had forgotten about about the rounding down in 1841 hence it made it look like his mother was only 14.
Cheers

For the newspaper records, try signing up to: http://access.gale.com/gdctrial/index.html
They still haven't kicked me off their free trial yet. Hopefully it works for you. If it doesn't let me know and I'll try to clip and post the full articles.
As to the daughters Rosina's descendant knows of: Julia, Louisa, Clara, Emily, Ann, & Rosina Julia, Louisa, Emily, and Rosina are Sarah's daughters. Their full names are Julia Sarah Frances, Louisa Clara, Emily Anne, and Rosina Theodosia. (christenings on the IGI, the younger three not christened until 1864). Ann may be the Annie Burdett, mentioned in the newspaper records as one of the daughters of Julius and Emily. I can't find any possible Clara, though, and I am wondering if the list should read 'Julia, Louisa Clara, Emily Ann, & Rosina'.

I am new on this forum. I am a great grandson of Julia Sarah Burdett. I note that her birth is shown as Julia Sarah Frances Burdett however I have the originals of her marriage cerficates and she shows her name as Julia Sarah James Burdett. I also have Julius & Sarah's marriage certificate and for Sarah's second marriage to William Russell.

Hi Casalguidi
Thanks for this and for still being interested, I wonder why Jessie was baptised in her thirties, maybe she switched denominations or was considering marriage at that time, though she married Alan Dickson in 1898. I still haven't got to the bottom of the James and Caroline Masey connection or possitively found their marriage.
