Small Heath United Lodge

Thomas Henry Foster was awarded a medallion in 1901 inscribed To Brother T Foster, Small Heath Lodge 1901 by Sheffield Equalised Independent Druids.
I know it was a Friendly Society, but what possible reason would a medallion be handed out to a member?
Does anyone have a photograph of the Lodge and its members.

i googled "sheffield Equalised independent Druids" and found this

there is also a photo on the site of the Sheffield "druids"

could be that thomas was an offical of the smethwick branch hence the medallion?
