1881 John Thomas is married to mary Ann and has daughter Amelia age 1 -Isabella must have died shortly before the census was taken - John's occupation is Publican (retired)

this looks like them in 1891 - another change of occupation for John Thomas!

..and 1901 John Thomas is an innkeeper
1901
Freemason Arms Front St Consett Durham
(next door to masonic and next door but one to Theatre)
John Thos pescod head M 44 Innkeeper Consett Durham
Mary J wife 42 hexham northumberland
Amelia daughter U 21 Assistant to father Consett
Robert S son 16 Watchmaker's apprentice Consett
Isabella daughter 10 Consett
Matilda daughter 4 Consett
Mary mcDonald servant U 19 General servant domestic Consett
Rg13 4670 72 43

it looks to me like you have followed the correct family - even though John Thomas' occupations changed from census to census - I cannot find another John Thomas of similar age b. Consett
