Hello Judith. Here are the Proud and Bowmman inscriptions:-

In loving memory of William Marsaw Proud, who died January/4/1896 aged 75 years.
Also Ann, wife of the above who died August/27/1896 aged 83 years.
Also William Marsaw, son of the above who died in infancy.

In loving memory of Abraham Bunn, formerly of Hedley Hill who died at Wolsingham in 1825.
And of Mary, his wife who died at Wolsingham in 1866.
And of John Proud, formerly of Thornhope who died at Bishop Auckland in 1843.
And of Mary , his wife who died at Wolsingham in 1834.

John Proud of Bishop Auckland, died at Bishop Auckland 1856
(this is rather a grand granite tombstone for so little information)

Sacred to the memory of Mary, wife of Thomas Bowman  who died December/4/1827 aged 76 years.
Also Ann, daughter of the above and wife of William Hall, died February/18/1840? aged 64 years.

There are others for Proud but they are from the late 1980 etc and I do not usually post the later ones.

Hello Sue.
I have 2 Snowden gravestone inscriptions but they are of a late date.
One 1951 with the person aged 70 years
And one 1990 with the person aged 80 years.
I do not post these later date inscriptions but you can have the details if you think they are of use to you.

Hi Adam,
it's not the couple I was thinking of as he died in 1894 & she was 70 in 1901.

However, checking my records I've found another branch of the family was in Wolsingham in 1901, it's possible that the MIs refer to this branch so I would be interested in further details, thank you.

Hello Maureen. Here are the inscriptions:-

Sacred to the memory of George Atkinson of Greenwell, who died May/21/1809 aged 64 years.
Also Margaret, wife of the above who died April/2/1787 aged 42 years.
Also Joseph, son of John and Mary Atkinson, who died August/2/1832 aged 8 years.
Also Mary, wife of John Atkinson of Greenwell, who died August/21/1847 aged 67 years.
Also the above named John Atkinson, who died November/16/1857 aged 83 years.
Also George, son of the above J Atkinson who died Sep?/1862? aged 49 years.
Also Joseph Huh?? Atkinson, son of the last named HuhHuh Margaret Atkinson who died April/22/1857 aged 7? years.
The reason for the question marks are because there is damage to the bottom of the gravestone making parts unreadable.

In loving memory of John James Ross, who died 9/August/1942 aged 88 years.
Also of Reuben, his son who died 5/July/1935 aged 35 years.
Also of Mary, his beloved wife who died 31/July/1950 aged 83 years.

There is another stone for Ross but the dates are from the 1970's with the death ages around the 80 years.
I do not post inscription with dates after 1950 but I can post via personal  message if you think they may help.

Adam.

Hi Adam,

I would be very grateful for any MI's for the surname Whitfield in the 1700's & 1800's.

If there are too many, please let me know and I will see if I can give you some specific names to search for.

Many thanks.

Hello Ruskie. There are two for the 1800's but none for the 1700's.
Here they are:-

In loving memory of Margaret, wife of John Whitfield of Wolsingham, who died April/5/1875 aged 25 years.
Also John Whitfield, who died May/13/1917 aged 75 years.

Sacred to the memory of Sarah, wife of William Whitfield, who died December/4/1850 aged 58 years.
Elizabeth, their daughter, died September/11/1845 aged 9 years.
And three infant sons, two died January/11/1859 and one may/22/1844.
