adam,

thanks a lot.

These are all my direct ancestors my great grandfather Thomas Baker married jane Horsley but moved away to Newcastle.

This has certainly helped to sort out the Thomas Bakers and the Horsley family.

Thanks again

Thank you so much for that Adam.  I only made the Robson connection last month but I think they could well all be mine.  The Harrisons are I'm sure.

Hello Adam ... I'm very new to this, so forgive me if I am asking you to do something you cannot, or have grown tired of doing ...BUT ...
...are you aware of any pre-1800 inscriptions/deaths of LAWS (or perhaps spelt LAWES) in C.of E. Wolsingham?  I am looking for anything that might assist  ..
I do know that Hannah Laws was baptised 1777 St Mary & St Stephen, and her father Thomas Laws baptised 1736, her  mother Ann and Thomas Laws were married at the same church in 1760 ...and also Thomas Laws 1691 at Wolsingham too. So, am wondering if there might be burial inscriptions?Huh
Many thanks - Jo

Here lieth the body of Thom Laws, who died June ye 4th 1761 aged 34 years.
A sober just and honest man boast more ye rich man if ye can be.
Anthony Laws, son of Thomas and Mary? Laws, died March ye 4th 1765 aged ?
Ann, daughter of the above Thomas and Mary laws, died June ye 5th 1776? aged 22 years.

Hello Adam,

I would be very interested in any MIs you have for the CARR and CHARLTON families, if this would not be too much trouble.

I also have links with these families in the Tow Law and Thornley village area, shall I post separate requests in these threads? I don't want to duplicate my requests if it will annoy you  Smiley

Many thanks,

Hello Em. Yes, just post the request on the correct thread and it makes it easy
for others to find the surnames in he correct place, instead of searching at random.
I have spent the last couple of days indexing the surnames and the places that I have posted because I have been getting duplicate requests.
I can now see at a glance previous postings and so avoid the duplicates.
Your surnames Carr inscriptions have been posted at Crook and Willington   (won't tell you the posting number because that would make it to easy Smiley
Charlton has also been posted at Willington.
Here are the inscriptions for them at Wolsingham:-

Sacred to the memory of John Roddham Carr LLD, barrister at Law, who departed this life 4/September/1887 aged 87 years ( the rest of the stone is unreadable)

In loving memory of Ivy Elizabeth Carr, beloved wife of Wester Carr, died November/30/1944 aged 45 years.

In memory of John Charlton, who died at Tow law, January/28/1879 aged 38 years.

In loving memory of Phoebe Charlton, died May/18/1918 (could be 1910)
aged 87 (could be 83 ) I say could be because the stone is affected by the dreaded lichen and of course it has to be where the age and date is )

There is another stone with a single name entry 1824 --1996
If you require that one i will send it via the personal mail link.

Hi Adam,

Thanks so much for those names, I can't see a link yet although I hoping Mr Carr the barrister is related  Grin.

The later date won't be necessary thanks.

May I just say what a wonderful help you are to share these MIs with people, and your organisation and indexing is something I admire, I must be the scattiest person in the world, you really don't want to see my desk  Grin

I will go through my paperwork and post on the relevent threads when I know what I am definitely after for the other areas, thanks again,

I was looking for Thomas Espin died 1912 and his wife Eliza died 1891. He was the vicar. I had a quick look in the church yard near the church but could not find them.

Your list only shows Espinell but this was a middle name ?
