Well Topcat2, as Adam is doing stirling work for benefit of others he can only put down the names which are on the Gravestones on the various churchyards which he has visited etc, nothing more nothing less, so please do not upset him for the excellent work he has done, he has help me and thousands of others on his various postings, as he need not have put any of his work on here.

My comment was not in anyway a criticism, I am looking for help.
The Espinell may be another relative and Vicar Thomas Espinell Espin may have been buried elswhere.

I appreciate the effort it took to compile the inscriptions and to try and answer queries.

Hi Adam,

Having just discovered a line of my tree going back to Wolsingham, I would be grateful if you could look up the family names of Lee and Richardson.

Thanks for offering such great help,

Best wishes, Jo

Hello Colin. The reason why "Espin" did not appear on the my first posting is because I did not know what the surname was. I now know it is Espin.
The gravestone was one of the lead infill type typical from around 1890 - 1920ish.
Two of the letters have fallen out or been damaged, hence the missing Espin.
Here is the inscription:-

In memory of Eliza Espin, beloved wife of the Rev Thomas Espinal Espin, DD?. rector of Wolsingham and Chancellor of the Dioceses of Chester and Liverpool.
(No dates of death or age of person.}

There is a gravestone for Rev Espin at Tow Law.
If you want that inscription please put it on the Tow law thread.

Thomas Espinell Espin died 1914 born 1824
Eliza (nee Jessop) died 1891 of Flu born 1830
I think DD is Doctor of Divinity

I have been to the site but could not find the grave, although I now think I could, (helped by information I gained today).

The a burial of their son Thomas H E C Espin 1858-1934 perpetual curate of Tow Law, I have already visited and photographed.

I also have a copy of "The Stargazer of Tow Law" which was the document that brought these relations to my attention.

I have more information about these people and their ancestors, if anyone is interested.

Thanks Colin

Hello Jo. What dates are you looking for in relation to the Richardsons?
I have three early gravestones and three modern gravestones.

Hello Jo. Here what I have for the Richardson and Lee :-

In loving memory of John Lee of Wolsingham, died August/12/1897 aged 74
years.
There was another Lee gravestone but that was for 1953.

In loving memory of Matthew, son of John and Jane Richardson, who died January/22/1813 aged 43 years.
Jane Richardson, died October/4/1843 aged 72 years.

To the memory of Catherine Richardson, daughter of John and Jane Richardson of Wolsingham, who died October/23/17?1 aged 72 years.
Also John Richardson, father of the above, who died April/23/1802 aged 77 years.
This stone was a flat tombstone and affected by lichen and that is all that could be read.

The other was for 1948 with the person being 87 but I think that was to late for you.

I noticed that you have Sanderson and Short. I would be interested in them. I know of one of my Sanderson that died in Wolsingham, Thomas Sanderson died aged one year. The family was there from at least 1830-1899.

Thanks John
