Stephen Duncan son of George Duncan & Blanche (nee Bates) was born in 1910, Haverton Hill. His mother Blanche died in 1912, a younger brother, Wilfrid also died c.1913 in infancy, both buried at St John's, Haverton Hill. By 1915 the father George Duncan had remarried.

Nothing is known of what happened to Stephen Duncan.

I've checked as well as possible for deaths, and haven't found a likely entry. It is possible that George Duncan may have abandoned his son, he may well have been left with his maternal grandmother Sarah Usherwood Bates (1911 residing Oak Street, Haverton Hill) also in the household was Lissie Bates b.c.1894.

Any sightings would be most welcome - both of these families were associated with Winsford, Cheshire and migrated up to Co.Durham as a result of the salt industry.
