COMPLETED - Hammersmith 1886 - "Cut his throat whilst of unsound mind"
« on: Tuesday 20 May 08 19:20 BST (UK) »

Hi all,

My ancestor John James Edwards died on 17 May 1886. The death certificate gives the cause of death as 'Cut his throat whilst of unsound mind'.

The place of death was 1a Grove Road, The Grove, Hammersmith.

I am wondering which newspapers would have covered this area and where the archives are located. The death certificate also states that an inquest was held and that the coroner was the informant. Where might this coroner's inquest be located?

Any help would be much appreciated.

From the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Libraries & Archives

It's quite a list, maybe they can narrow it down for you.

They were very helpful.

The coroner's report is in the LMA but they sent me a copy of a newspaper article.

Great stuff!
