Hi Bobtonks,

Had a look on FreeReg, found a few Ann Royals in Norfolk between 1782 & 1893, not anyone born in Yarmouth or Horning though, but check it out:

I assume this is the lady, born Horning, on the 1851 census with husband, Anthony.

Can't see either of them in 1861 but there are 2 death registrations which could fit Ann. No ages given, unfortunately

Ann Royal
Death registered qrt ending December 1858
Yarmouth Norfolk
Volume: 4b
Page: 23

Ann Maria Royal
Death registered qrt ending Sep 1852
Yarmouth
Norfolk
Volume: 4b
Page: 1
(There is a birth for  Ann Maria Royal in 1848 Swaffham, Norfolk so this may be her)

In Ancestry.co.uk ( which I can't access the details) there is  Ann Royal 1793 in the 1861 census. So it was just possible that this was Anthonys widow. Your Feebmd lookups are probably the best bet.

Thanks Bob

Hi, Bob

The  Ann 1793 was born Methwold, Norfolk and is married to James.

I assumed this wasn't her as I had cross checked with the 1851 to find the birthplace

Tricia

Thanks for that.

I agree with you that both Anthony and Ann had died before the '61 census. Worth checking.

I have a Mary Ann Royall b. 7.5.1846 Yarmouth in my tree for what it's worth (gg grandad's second wife)...

I am struggling to find any other of her relatives. Her Dad is John Christmas Royal. Don't know when he was born, but I think I can make an educated guess...!  Wink But that's it - one of my brick walls.

Yes, thanks.  Smiley

Her Dad's birth is eluding me. In which of the 50 churches in Norwich was he baptised?! And not a clue what happened to the siblings. (I don't expect an answer - I will trawl through the records one day.) Just wondered if there was a link with Bob's lot...

Meles

My Royals in '51 were James John 25, Charlotte 21, Henry 3 and Charlotte 9 mths. All born GY. James was the son of Anthony Royal. I haven't come across a John Christmas. It would be interesting to see the census record just in case I find a link.
