Ann THOMAS « on: Friday 23 May 08 04:19 BST (UK) »
Hello: I am trying to trace a Ann T. Thomas, born 1826 in Cornwall. What I like to find if there is a way is the ship that her and her family came over to Canada on. I think she can over in 1832. This is all the confirmed info I have on her. She did marry a John Augustus in Brooklin, Ontario, Canada in 1848.

Hi Floppy,
Ann's age at death gives 1826. I don't know what your Canadian Marriage Records Contain. Do you have the record? I note given the 1851 census there is a 5 year old daughter Elizabeth with John and Ann (also Fanny 2) Makes me wonder about the marriage in 1848. Ann is aged 28 b England. They are Methodists. I also note on the same page a Wm Thomas aged 21 b England He is CofE so may be unconnected. I note death Lists Ann T, 1851 Just Ann, marriage of dau Eliza lists parents as John and Anna.......Kris

Hi Floppy,
I have been chasing up Ontario resources. I now see why I cannot find the marriage or the birth of John and Ann's Children, though no problem with childrens marriages and grandchildren's births. All pre civil registration so if we are looking at parish records I wouldn't expect much. Here was me hoping these docs may have been a great source of info on her. Pity.
By what I can see of transcriptions for early marriages fathers are not even listed. Dare I hope there is a Thomas witness. Children's baptisms wont be much help I suspect although they are listed as Methodist - wondering here, if these Children were baptised Methodist, some but not all UK Methodist records provide some wonderful incite into the mother by listing who her parents were. Baptisms whatever faith, may provide a little more help on her Christian name(s).
I have found
Ann Tregellas THOMAS 18 Sep 1823 St Agnes parents John and Avis.
John and Avis don't seem to leave unless for a short time. They appear in 1841 - no Ann. No burial in St Agnes to 1837. If she emigrated without her family wouldn't expect it was in 1832 aged 9
Anyway thought it may be worth mentioning.
Hope you can turn up further information from the Ontario end.
