MARTIN, DATSON, SPARGO Kea
« on: Wednesday 07 May 08 16:31 UTC (UK) »

Hi Kris  Cheesy

sorry you couldn't join the hunt ... it is still open ...

I have a few more queries and I hope you can be of help!

I have an Isaac Martin b c 1826 Kea. He married Ann Datson in 1825.

I have no clue who Isaac Martin's parents or siblings were . We have come to a dead end for him Lips Sealed  He is on 1841in Kea, with Ann and children John 1826, Isaac 1831 and Mary 1838.

my John Martin b 1826, Gwennap married Jane Spargo b  1821 Kea ... have no clue about her family/baptism. Of course , I should order the marriage cert to find her dad ... but wondered if you could find anthything.

We are also stuck on Ann Datson ...there is confusion as to whether she is d/o Collan Datson. Ann was bc 1801 Kea

on the other side of the family ...you found Robert Morrish = Katherine Trenerrie 1699 , Crantock.

I was hoping we could try and go further back with them . I did find a Bapt of Katherine Trenery 24 June 1672 d/o Edward Trenery and Frances Roach, East Newlyn. I wonder if you can confirm this.

I believe Robert was the s/o Robert Morrish who married Jane ?? not sure though.

I know this is a lot to ask ...but anything would be great!  Grin

thanks so much  Kiss Kiss

Hi Deb,

I am still away so unfortunately little help until I get home. So sorry I was not able to join in. I do now have dial up access where I am as of yesterday but have not had time to read the thread, I promise I will try when I get a chance. Alas I do not have all my records with me and certainly do not have my microfiche. If my memory serves me correctly the marriage of Robert and Jane does not list her surname.

Now you mention Collan Datson and that name sounds familiar. I have a feeling our lovely Dave from the Wiltshire Board among others has a connection if it is the same person - Christian Renfrey I think was the connection and this line brings connections to a very famous Ozzie  Wink

I am sorry I don't have time to do a search and see if it is the same family at the moment (perhaps it is not the same Collan Datson - sure someone would have searched RootsChat during your hunt.)

Cheers Kris  Cheesy

Kris  Cheesy

thanks for replying ... It's all quite confusing  as what we have does involve Collan Datson and Christian Renfry. I am not convinced that my Ann Datson is their child , as I found another Ann Datson b c1795 d/o a William ....

arrghhhhhh  Grin Grin

In the later pages of my hunt , lesanne has made a wonderful tree for the Martin and Morrish families...... I just need some kind of confirmation .

I will wait til you are back before I carry on the hunt...I so appreciate you!!!!!!!

Deb there is a second Ann Datson marrying in Kea

John GILL = Ann DATSON 8 Dec 1831 Kea

They can be found at Baldue in Kea. Ann Gill gives her pob as Kea 1809-1811

I can't help with full entries from this area - Perhaps witness names from these marriage entries may help. OPC perhaps or order printouts of the 2 entries from CRO or get mum to take a look  Wink

Sorry no luck with Isaac Martin  Cry

Morning Kris  Cheesy

Thanks for all the info ... especially Jane Spargo.

It's so strange , since I started searching Cornwall , I have always seen the names Spargo, Kellow, Curnow etc.... I never thought I would be related to them ... Grin

need to wrap my brain around all of this ...thanks again ... you're a doll!! Cheesy Cheesy

I have a fair bit on the family of Ann Datson (dau of Collan and Christian) bap 2 Apr 1809.   She apparently was born 1808.   If you're interested have a look at my url to The Welsh Connection (via Profile).

Hi, i'm new to this forum and just found this note about Elizabeth Spargo.

I believe that she might by my husband's ancester and that she miight have come to America before her marriage to Luther James Marble Goodwin on 04 Dec 1848.

Is this possible? If so, Does anyone know of how/why she came to America and settled in Dorchester, Norfolk, Massachusetts?
