Another pair of eyes needed please
« on: Saturday 24 May 08 18:49 BST (UK) »

Been on Ancestry and freebmd and couldn't find a sausage...i'm looking for a marriage between a Ernest Knight and Rose Ethel/Ethel Rose Grainger as far as i know in Portsmouth around the period from the early 1920's up to around 1929.My auntie..their daughter,b 1929..is now not very good in the memory stakes and this is all she could remember..any contributions would be most helpful.
Thank You

Trying to narrow it down - was your auntie their firstborn or did she have older siblings?

Had Rose been married before?  If so - was Grainger her birth maiden name or her previous married name

Ah you got me there Carole....i know she had at least two other siblings...Rose and Ernie..but whether she was the oldest/youngest that remains a problem........fairly certain that Grainger was the birth maiden name though..thank you for your assistance.

I took a look from 1919 to 1930 and I couldn't find a Knight - Grainger marriage.....Do you have your aunt's birth certificate just to verify the maiden name  Huh

Just found out she was the second oldest.

Mab..got the maiden name from my auntie's birth record off Ancestry..as far as my auntie can remember that was her mum's first marriage..like i said her memory is fading fast.

Steve Cheesy

Definately the right people but now trying to find a death for Rose Ethel Knight and age at death, have found a birth(Grainger) in 1898 in Kent but have been assured that it's not her,she was born in the Stamshaw area of Portsmouth around that time, she died when my auntie was a child so should be between 1929-1935 in the Portsmouth area, can only access the index on Ancestry and it's far to late for freebmd, any help much appreciated..thank you
