I wonder if there is anyone who could please look up a marriage at the archives for me its;-
  George Kirby b. Droxford  to  Fanny Singleton b. Droxford

September qtr. 1885 Droxford.

Hello, Billy,

What info did you want to know re the marriage Sept. ¼ 1885 Droxford ?

If you want to look at the Parish Records you will have to know the name of the church, the same if you enquire at a Registrs's Office.   If you are lucky Droxford may only have one church otherwise the only way to find any info. is to buy the marriage cert.

I have looked at the Droxford marriage entry in the Hugh Wallis site but it only extends as far as 1876, but that would only give you the same info as the IGI.

                       Thankyou for your reply I am hoping that Droxford have their own church.I know what you mean I go to the Warwick Archives nearly every day.I know that Fanny Singleton was living with her mother and aunt in Swanmore,Droxford in 1881 there seems to be no father.I thought Swanmore was the name of the house although I suppose it could be a place.I am just trying to find if Fanny married a George Kirby or a Henry William Smith because they are both listed on Freebmd.Fanny's mother was Jane according to the 1871 census.Billy

Swanmore was a hamlet within the parish of Droxford.

I should have looked at a map.It could be George Kirby she married because in 1891 that family are living in Bishops Waltham which is in the same area.Billy

When presented with choice of two spouses for a marriage the best way to check is to look at the first census after the marriage.

1891 census
RG12/941  folio 71  page 5
Ludwells Corner   Bishops Waltham, Droxford, Hants.

George Kirby,  head  age 28  Bricklayer b Droxford
Fanny  wife age 27   b   ditto
Walter George  son  age 5  b   ditto
Matilda Frances  dau  age 1mth  b  Bishops Waltham.
