I'm trying to trace ancestors of my father's first wife, so that I can find siblings who may have helped look after their son when she died of ear cancer when he was still very young.
Her name on the marriage certificate (dated 21 Oct 1922, Marsham, Norfolk) was Florence Ellen BOOTY, and her age is given as 23, a spinster. Her father was George William BOOTY, and his profession is listed as "Retired Sergeant, Essex Police". The witnesses (unusually three) are Bertie William BOOTY, Phyllis Marie BOOTY (who could be the bride's mother), and G W Booty (her father ?). I'm not entirely sure that any of them were actually born in Norfolk, but they were all residing there in 1922 (apart from my father, who was a Fireman, residing in Blackheath, London).
Now, I can't find a Florence Ellen BOOTY registered about 1899, but I can find an Ellen Florence BOOTY. Given that her father was a retired policeman in the Essex police, she was probably born in Essex ? I can find two George William BOOTY's, both in London, and neither seem to fit the profile. I have been able to find a Bertie William BOOTY born in Hevingham, Norfolk in about 1890, but I can't find a family connection with George William. The IGI has come up with nothing on any of the names.
I wonder if any Roots Chatters have come across any BOOTY's in their research, or have access to any documents which may help ?

Hi Nick,
Just realized Mahala Rix's Mother Elizabeth Rix, born 1797 Hockering was 2nd wife of my great grandfather Edward Chapman, they married in 1875, he married my great grandmother Mary Ann Abel after Elizabeth died in 1881. Elizabeth married William Howard born 1800 Horsford in 1845.

Hope you don't mind my chipping in but George & Ellen Booty would have known my grandparents Frank & Annie Card, they lived at 71 South Primrose Hill.
