The Reference and Local History Library is located on the upper floor of the main Louth County Library building at Roden Place. It houses local history and genealogy sections, as well as an extensive collection of Irish history titles. The Library also has a photocopying service, study facilities, and Internet access points for public use. The 1901 Census records of Co.Louth, available on microfilm, are included in the records held by the Library.

The Library holds street directories which date from 1863 to 1976. The directories from 1920 show show the names of local residents and business people.
