London within Walls
« on: Monday 26 May 08 23:48 BST (UK) »

Hi,

Can someone help me in regard to my relation.

My Great Great Grandmother is shown in 1841 Census as living and working at St. Michael  Wood Street, London within Walls, as a Female Servant.

Was wondering if anyone had any information on this subject, whether this maybe was a Church in Wood Street, London, or anything to do with the whole scenario of London within Walls during this period.

St Michael, Wood Street, united to St Alban Wood Street in 1894 & St Vedast Foster Lane in 1954.

Alas, the parish registers were mostly destroyed in 1940.

St Michael Wood Street was a Wren church & was demolished in 1897, so it's possible that there were some photos....

There is a set of engravings from the 1770

try google
