If you right click the file on your desktop and save it to the locations suggested.

.... or use Windows Explorer, which is usually in the Accessories folder in the Start Menu.

However, Windows Explorer may not let you examine or change the contents of any of the Windows system files or folders unless you change the settings in the Tools >>Folder Options>> View settings of Windows Explorer (Allow Display of Hidden Files and Folders) .  In Windows explorer, you can right-click on a file and select copy, then drop it into the desired folder by right-clicking and selecting paste.  You can paste the file in both locations suggested - it doesn't matter if it's in the wrong folder, but it does matter if it's not where Windows expects to find it  Smiley

You are all being so helpful but
when I right click this is what comes up

Open
Explore
Extract files
Extract to LTTWN1.dll

NOD 32 anti virus system

Open with

Send to

Create short cut
Delete
Rename

Properties

Create short cut

Properties

So where do I go now?  I am very sorry to be so ignorant and for trying your patience.  I just don't want to muck it up now,

Double click the My Documents icon on your desktop.

When that opens click on the Up icon and it should display your desktop icons and files.

Right clck the .dll file and select Copy.

Then use My Computer to navigate your way to C:\Program Files\Family Tree Maker 200x.

Once inside the Family Tree Maker 200x directory select Paste from the Edit menu or just press the shortcut key combination Ctrl + V.

I managed all that!

But the same message comes up when I click on my shortcut to FTM.  It is in FTM - I can see it.  But should I have unzipped it first?

It wasn't zipped, so you do not need to unzip it.

If it had been zipped then it would have had .zip filename extension.

OK It appears as a pile of books on the desk top I thought that meant zipped  also it is only 16 KB's that's why I thought that.
I have downloaded Recuver should I try that?
I do appreciate your help,

If it is a pile of books icon then it is a WinRAR (compressed file).

Basically all you need to do is re-install FTM from disk.

That should solve everything in one go.
