Hi all Don't really know where to start as I don't know the area.
I believe my Wards may have come from Ossett and have some entries from the Vital Records showing a possibility that would connect with a lead I have. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction with regards to a marriage that might be a starting point. I have
Jonas Ward christened 2 Nov 1786 (born 17 Oct 1786) son of Isaac and Rebekah recorded in Ossett, Yorkshire, England Birthplace Dewsbury.
My first finding in Parish registers for Jonas is when his first daughter is born 1812 in Newark, Notts and the Vicar noted the date of birth. When I found a date of birth before in Newark, it was because the baby was born elsewhere. I don't know if this is the same on this occasion but I do know Jonas is not mentioned in the 1811 census for Newark and I am not 100% sure of his birthplace as he dies before registration. I definitely know he married Ann Lee as again the vicar was very helpful when their daughter Ann was born and noted the mother's maiden name.
I was hoping someone could give me an idea of the area and parishes I might need to check as I thought maybe I could try and find a marriage for him in this area as he did not marry in Newark and so far Nottingham has drawn a blank.
Any ideas/help would be appreciated as I can't go any further back at the mo Elaine

Hiya willsy probably no help at all but these are burials in the Wakefield area, and there are quite alot of Wards on maybe if you could link in a burial place and some of the parishes may become clearer, not sure if any of these places are even near Ossett but worth a look,
and thanks you really have reminded me to buy an A to Z of Staffordshire
