Allen Gimingham Workhouse

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if there is a birth register extant for Gimingham Workhouse?  I am looking for the births/baptisms of William Allen abt 1843 and John Allen abt 1850, both sons of Elizabeth Allen of Thurgarton who later married  James Carr.  Her sons were cared for by her parents.

It soesn't look as if there are many surviving records

Hello,
No, I am not definitely sure. This is what I have been told by a  relative, and in the 1851/61  they were both born Gimingham living with grandparents in Thurgarton.  Allen is such a common name that until I am more sure I am not prepared to order birth certificates en spec, hence the question.  Paying for a search at the Record Office would be even more expensive.

Gimmingham and Thurgarton are both in Erpingham registration districts, so if their births were registered that is the district they are most likely to have been registered in which narrows it down considerably.

Specifying the mother's name means only a certificate with a mother's name Elizabeth would be produced and you would get half the cost of the certificate refunded if the reference was not for a birth with a mother named Elizabeth.
