I dare say there is a very simple answer to this question Yesterday I accidentally attached a file of photos to an email, when I meant to only send one or two. Since then,Outlook Express has been trying to send this enormous email for nearly 24 hours, and I can't find out how to stop it. The progress screen has not appeared,so I can't press Stop.I have unchecked the "send and receive on startup" box so that I can at least receive my email.I have tried going into the outbox ,selecting the email and deleting it,but it won't let me select it.I am just getting the eggtimer all the time. I hate asking dumb questions but I have been on the microsoft help, and couldn't see the answer there Yours desperately Barbara

But that is the problem. It won't let me select it and delete it When I click on it ,it isn't highlighted and that is when I get the eggtimer ,which goes on and on and on...............

That won't work, it only affect setting and programs not data

Does your server have a web based site you can access emails from when you are away from your own computer? With a similar situation I used my ISP's web site to access my account and emails and was able to delete the offending email from there. Hope you can too.

Thanks,Tati I have been trying to email my ISP because the Web based site doesn't have my current mail in it.Is that because I am on my computer? I had a look at the site you mentioned ,which looks complicated I can't seem to print off the instructions - just comes out blank. I will try to copy them into a word document. Thankyou all for your patience

Oops ,sorry Iwas going to do that last night, but there was a tiny hitch when I sent myself a few emails and they were received, but not in the inbox Eventually found them in the Deleted Items folder & by then it was getting late,so thought I'd look at it today, which I have just done and everything is as it should be from which I conclude you have to restart the computer to complete the action. Heres how: Start - search - all files and folders type in .dbx, then More Advanced Options and make sure that Search Hidden Folder,System Folders and Sub Folders are ticked. Then hit Search and everything with that suffix comes up Delete the Outbox folder (s) I had 4, which forces Outlook to create a new folder. They said if that doesn't work, delete the Sent Mail folder in the same way (after moving everything you want to keep to another file ) THe other thing you could do is rename the outbox. And that is all there is to it My computer seems to be running faster too. Thanks everyone again Barbara
